Storyteller. Poet. Educator.
I can't really remember when I first started writing stories. It seems like it was always there. I grew up reading Sherlock Holmes. Moved on to Stephen King and Piers Anthony. And then there was Edgar Rice Burroughs. All influences in their own ways.
I write more than I publish. During really good creative bouts, some stories just pop in my head nearly fully formed. Others come out in tattered pieces kicking and screaming. It's almost all character driven. As a result, I don't confine myself to any particular genre, but I do lean more toward fantasy and science-fiction. My characters can get away with a lot more, and so can I.
As for my educator hat, I've been teaching for well over a decade. Helping students develop their own writing ability as they move into their professional fields or are changing them is richly rewarding, if challenging.
Between creative bouts and semester terms, I'll be relaxing and consuming pop culture. Movies. Shows. Video games. Comics. I find myself often working with soundtracks in the background. Instrumental is always preferred. Symphonic, melodic, instrumental death metal even better. Lyrics often get in the way of my thought process. Aurora, however, is a distinct exception.
And if I need to deal with stress and do something with my hands other than type... fortunately, there's Lego.
What's there to say...
